 1) Three camera shots

- The point of view closeup at 0.13 shows a character's computer and what they are witnessing during the scene. This helps showcase the character's perspective to the audience.

- The two shot closeup at 1.32 shows two characters looking at a screen which successfully helps illustrate the intensity of the scene. This also gives the audience a deeper insight on both character's reactions to their surroundings and their role in the mission which also establishes tension.

- The over the shoulder shot at 1.52 presents conversation back and forth between two characters but only allows us to see one character's face and the other character's side profile. This allows the audience to engage more closely towards both subjects and sympathise solely with the character's emotions as we are able to see one character more than the others.

2) Camera angles

The various camera angles used in this scene were consciously selected by the cinematographers to induce different meanings and engage the audience. The birds eye view angle at 3.32 where the character is facing upwards looking directly up at the signal in the sky is a very powerful camera angle as it allows the audience to see how the insignificance of the characters in contrast to the signal.

3) Mise en scene

The laboratory the scene is based in helps communicate the knowledge and intelligence of the characters as they try to save the world. The setting suggests they are educated and know how to work well under pressure in situations. This allows the audience to have a heroic impression of the characters specifically in this scene.
